• Reflect some of the ways that you want to assess your students, i.e. monitor their level of understanding what you're teaching.

I think that to maximize experience and productivity during my student teaching I will use a balance of homework, in-class work, quizzes, and tests to assess students. As time passes I amend my strategy to what I notice works the best with my style of teaching. I do not plan on assigning homework every night, nor do I plan on giving in-class work every day. Currently, I think 1-2 homework assignments per week, 2-3 in-class assignments per week, and 1 quiz/test every two weeks should be a balanced start.

  • Describe your grading policy, i.e. how you will assign scores to represent performance. Explain why you are choosing to use this method. If you are continuing your CT's grading policy, explain what you feel are the strengths and weaknesses of this approach.

Personally, I chose to use my own grading policy rather than my CT's. In fact, I've never even seen my CT's grading policy but I feel that this topic is one of my greatest strengths. I am a hobbyist in statistics and spreadsheet engineering. Currently, I'm planning on using a weighted/non-weighted grade book calculator similar to the one shown in class on Tuesday nights. My goal is to engineer a grade book spreadsheet to calculate the weighted percentages that best suit the classes overall grade (as a whole).
